Since my blog is called Pink Mouse Boutique, I had to create a mouse pattern. And this one is super adorable and very easy and quick to make. You can use any color thread or yarn. These mice are perfect to teach the children in your life about numbers, colors, sorting, counting, etc. The fun is endless! And I am so addicted to them!
- Aunt Lydia’s size 10 thread (color of your choice) + black for the eyes
- Clover Amour, 1.5 mm crochet hook
- Scissors
- Sewing needle
- Polyester stuffing
Abbreviations:
mr – magic ring
sl st – slip stitch
st(s) – stitch(es)
ch – chain
sc – single crochet
hdc – half double crochet
dec – decrease
inc – increase
Notes:
- Leave long beginning and end tails. We will need them later to braid the tail of the mouse.
- Do not join rounds.

Pattern:
BODY
Leave a long beginning tail.
Round 1: 8 sc in a mr – 8 sts
Round 2: 8 inc – 16 sts
Round 3: (sc, inc) x 8 – 24 sts
Round 4: (2 sc, inc) x 8 – 32 sts
Round 5: (3 sc, inc) x 8 – 40 sts
Rounds 6 – 10: sc around – 40 sts (5 rounds)
Round 11: (3 sc, dec) x 8 – 32 sts
Round 12: sc around – 32 sts
Round 13: (2 sc, dec) x 8 – 24 sts
Rounds 14 – 15: sc around – 24 sts (2 rounds)
Round 16:Β (4 sc, dec) x 4 – 20 sts
Sew the eyes on round 15, 5 sts apart from each other.
Round 17: sc around – 20 sts
Stuff the body well.
Round 18: (3 sc, dec) x 4 – 16 sts
Round 19: (2 sc, dec) x 4 – 12 sts
Stuff more if needed before finishing Round 20.
Round 20: 6 dec – 6 sts
Leave a long tail and fasten off. Finish off and bring the tail all the way through the body of the mouse and through the magic ring.
Ears (x 2):
Leave long a long beginning tail.
Round 1: 8 sc in a mr; sl st to join and ch 2 – 8 sts
Round 2: 8 hdc inc; sl st to join and ch 1 – 16 sts
Round 3: sc around; sl st to join – 16 sts
Pull the mr tight and sew in place (about 3 rounds above the eyes). Bring the tails through the mr of the body.
Tail:
You should have 6 pieces of long thread coming out of the magic ring. Braid those until you reach a desired length for the tail. Make a knot and cut the excess thread.
And voila! You made a cute little mouse!

how do you add the eyes?

You just sew them before finishing the body. The instructions are under Round 15 of the mouse. π

but there are no instructions? it just says to sew the eyes.

Use black thread (or another color if you wish). I sewed a few times in each stitch because I like the eyes to be bigger.

I’m relatively new to crocheting so I am confused about the meaning of “increase”. I would love to make these mice, but without the meaning, I can’t. Please help!!

“inc – increase” means that you will single crochet twice in the same stitch. If you are really new, I would suggest looking up tutorials on YouTube for “crochet in the round,” “increase,” “invisible decrease,” etc. Without knowing the basic techniques in crochet, you will not be able to make an amigurumi.
Oh, and the this little mouse pattern is a good place to start as it is fairly simple and quick to make, so you can practice those basic crochet techniques. π

Hi, english is not my mother language and i’m technically new to crochet. I got confused at the ears, what does the first round means? It’s a magic ring, and than it says chain (Round 1: mr, ch 1, sc 8; sl st to join and ch 2 β 8 sts), also what does “hdc inc” means? I look up to the Abbreviations and didn’t found. My brother keeps asking me to make him a mouse, thanks i found your pattern haha it is a really cute mouse!!!
Just another question: i made the mouse qith a “normal yarn” (not the proper one for amigurumi) and the mouse got really big, it fills my hole hand and i think i did everything right. It’s beacaus of the yarn i used?

Hi Rebeca! That just means that you need to 8 sc in the magic ring. The “hdc inc” means to increase using the half double crochet stitch.
And yes, your mouse is bigger because you used yarn. I prefer thread but I have made the mouse with yarn and it is still super cute.

I too used yarn so that will be why my mouse is so much bigger. Will have to try and find some thread and make the smaller ones. So pleased with my first attempt though, especially as I am new to crochet.

To answer your question, the ears are crocheted in the round. You begin with a magic ring (mr) and crochet in the ring.

Help I don’t know where I am going wrong! For rows 5-10 I get 40 stitches like the pattern states but when I do row 11 I always end up with 34 stitches instead of 32! I have unravelled and redone both the full pattern again from the start or just that row several tines but I always end up with 34 and I don’t know why I know how to decrease so that is not the problem and I know I can’t of miscounted everytime I restart that row. Is it a typo or am I going wrong somewhere and if I just continue with the pattern with the 2 extra stitches will it make a difference π€

Hi Jade,
You should not be getting 34 stitches in Round 11. You should be getting 32 sts. Since Round 10 has 40 stitches and you are decreasing 8 times in Round 11, you should get 32 sts. You need to 1 sc in 3 sts and then do a decrease and you repeat that 8 times. I also have a video tutorial for this pattern. The link is in the Notes section. Maybe watching that would help.

Okay I’m going to sound stupid here but that’s not new for me.
I am also new to crochet but have been a knitter for years so have a bit of understanding. But what has me confused is the phrasing golden ring. I have a lot of patterns and have watched a lot of tutorials and this is the first time I have come across it. I just wanted to know why you called it that?

Hi Carrie! I know a lot of people say “magic circle,” but when I started crocheting, the first patterns I found used the term “magic ring.” This just stuck with me and I have been using “magic ring” in all my patterns. π

I wish the pattern for the ears had been first, since they need to be done first unless you have two balls of yarn. I did not have 2 balls of yarn of the same color, so my mouse ears are a different color, which was fine this time, but might not always be fine. Also, the direction to sew the ears on at about Row 12 should be at the end of the ear directions, before one starts the mouse body. A reminder at Row 12 or 13 in the mouse body directions would be an added bonus. I like the pattern, and my mouse is very nice.

I’ve just finished a mouse – I thank you so much for this wonderful pattern! So easy to read and follow, perfect instructions! I learned to crochet, mostly self-taught from a little booklet in 1963, and never acquired the use of the magic ring. I chained 4 to make a ring, so my little mouse has tiny holes in its ears! I love thread crochet, but at 82 it’s a bit hard on my hands. Even so, I want to try some of your other patterns. You’ve done a terrific job with this one!!!

I use US terminology, so “sc” is single crochet and “hdc” is half double crochet. π
I should probably specify in the pattern that I am using US crochet terminology π

Oh, sorry! I didn’t read your comment carefully! I just grabbed all 6 tails and made a knot. I don’t know what a reef knot is. But the regular knot I made is enough. I have never had a tail unravel. π

I made one with grey silvery cotton thread. Stitched on some eyes with black sewing thread and attached the ears. Braided the little tail and β¦
VoilΓ the mouse was completed.
The instructions were clear to me and easy to follow.
I will glue on a magnet and put it on the fridge. π Iβll definitely be making more.

Thanks for the patern, I made this mouse for our grandson, he can use it in the class to reduce stress, he play with the ears, tale and squeeze them. Now I am making them for the class, our grandson is in first elementary. I am from Belgium and itβs a very easy to understand. Do you have a bigger mouse, that I can make for the teacher

I love this mouse! I am still a relative beginner but I have made 6 mice so far and theyβve all come out looking adorable. I made one with embroidery floss, which was really challenging. The rest I made with cotton wool. They make great gifts! Now Iβm kind of addicted and will keep making more nice. Although, I want to try the acorn next because I love acorns and have a collection.

I love this mouse! Iβve made 6 so far and given most of them away as gifts. Theyβre adorable! The pattern works really well. Iβve made them mostly with cotton yarn and one tiny mouse with DMC embroidery floss. Thanks for the great pattern and clear instructions!
